Public Works Service Worker

Overtime Status:  Non-Exempt

Pay Range:  Tier 1 ($6.00 - $9.25 per hour)

Supervises:  None

Reports to: Public Works Foreman

 

Class Characteristics:  Physical work responsible for the maintenance, repair and inventory of the Town's streets and right-of-ways.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.  Maintain and mow right-of-ways exclusively along Town streets included in the NCDOT Powell Bill program.

2.  Construct and/or maintain storm drains, ditched and culverts exclusively along Town streets included in the NCDOT Powell Bill program.

 

Training and Experience Requirements:

 

1.  Must have valid drivers license

2.  Skill in operating lawn maintenance equipment or machinery

3.  Ability to perform assigned tasks in a timely fashion.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Majority of work to be performed outdoors.  Employee will be exposed to varying weather elements, including extreme cold and heat.  Must be able to physically life seventy-five (75) pounds or more and adhere to the Town's safety guidelines.
